FRANNY & ZOOEY
A musical tragedy inspired by the oeuvre of JD Salinger
Premiere, Arenberg Schouwburg Antwerpen , December 5th 2008
Franny and Zooey are the youngest children from the infamous Glass family.
Their home consists of a suitcase. Tonight they are meeting for the first time since their oldest brother Seymour committed suicide.
In the first scene, we catch a so-called glimpse of Franny's date with her boyfriend Lane at a local restaurant. We follow Zooey in the second scene into the Glass family bathroom where he oracles about life to his mum on the other side of the shower curtain.
Within their parental home and the reminiscence of their retro radio shows as kid stars we live through their inability to cope with their loss and the big questions of human existence.
This show is inspired by JD Salinger's book “Franny and Zooey” and the collections of novels written by “Cather in the Rye” J.D Salinger.
In coproduction with Arenbergschouwburg
With the support of the City of Antwerp
* Noémi Schlosser dedicates this show to her mother, who left her same as Seymour Glass 3 weeks prior to the premiere.
