DOCUMENTARY & ARCHIVE: THE YOUTH OF 1948
Noemi Schlosser traveled through Israel to interview THE YOUTH OF 1948, people well in their 80s, 90s, and sometimes over 100 years old to collect their testimonies about the end of the British Mandate, the War of Independence, and the establishment of the Jewish State before they pass away.
Amongst them are the personal stories from famous Israeli personalities like Madame Ruth Dayan, Rafi Eitan, Haim Guri, Amos Horev & Joshua Sobol.
These personal stories paint a very surprising and eloquent testimony of everyday life during these euphoric, dangerous, happy, and sad days between 1945 and 1952 in the country we know today as Israel.
Since the beginning of the project in 2015 Noemi has recorded approximately 70 people with over 250 hours of unique, historical footage from individuals representing a large social, economical, cultural religious, and political spectrum of those tormented, heroic, dangerous yet exhilarating times.
Since she started the recordings a large portion of her interviewees have sadly passed away and it is to honor their memory and legacy. The creation of a Jewish Democratic Sovereign State, a light amongst the nations- that she wants to continue this huge endeavor of archiving and editing their testimonies into a documentary (series).
